Designing a Groundbreaking Criminal Justice Report

FWD.us had extensive original research on Oklahoma’s criminal justice system to share with people who could use their data to make a difference. To make a complex report engaging and digestible to conservative policymakers, justice-minded reformers, and people affected by the criminal justice system, FWD.us knew that they needed creative partners who would frame their research in a fresh, approachable, and respectful way.

Precision worked closely with FWD.us to turn years of data about Oklahoma’s criminal justice reform journey into an engaging print report, interactive website, and compelling mini documentaries. To strike a balance between sharing hard numbers and highlighting the people behind the data, we made use of hand-painted illustrations and first-person accounts to humanize the facts. By weaving those personal touches throughout all of the report collateral, we were able to create content that was on-message and compelling to a wide variety of audiences.

Our creative partnership produced an immersive, educational, and impactful suite of materials that were positively received by a wide range of audience members. FWD.us’s criminal justice team now has tools to present their research in ways that engage policy professionals and grassroots advocates alike.
