Senior Strategist and Former President of EMILY’s List, Stephanie Schriock, Joins Precision as Of Counsel

Expanding its roster of industry-leading strategists, Precision announced today that Stephanie Schriock, former president of EMILY’s List, is joining the agency as Of Counsel.

Schriock is widely recognized as one of America’s leading public affairs strategists, with over two decades of experience that includes running a major national organization that dramatically changed the American political landscape; successfully managing and advising countless high-stakes competitive political campaigns; and counseling CEOs, candidates, and national, state, and local officeholders. At Precision, she will provide high-level strategic counsel to the agency’s clients across sectors.

“Stephanie Schriock is the best of the best. She’s a world-class leader who led EMILY’s List to exponential growth and a brilliant strategist whose counsel has been indispensable to dozens of successful campaigns and organizations,” said Precision partners Stephanie Cutter, Teddy Goff, and Mike Spahn. “We are so excited to have her on board to provide our clients with unparalleled strategic advice.”

Schriock is best known for serving as the president of EMILY’s List, an organization dedicated to getting women elected to public office, for over a decade. Under her leadership, the organization raised more than $460 million, elected nearly 1,000 women to positions up and down the ballot, and grew a robust list of supporters from 200,000 to over 5 million. She oversaw the organization during a period of unprecedented growth when its digital footprint doubled — and then doubled twice again — and the size of its state and local staff tripled. By the time she stepped down, the organization was at its strongest position yet, following two record cycles and incredible growth in Democratic women running for office.

Before EMILY’s List, Schriock spent several years on Capitol Hill, serving as chief of staff to Senator Jon Tester (D-MT) and providing senior counsel on some of the nation’s most critical policy issues. Prior to that, she was campaign manager for Senator Tester’s 2006 campaign as well as Senator Al Franken’s (D-MN) 2008 campaign, when she successfully managed the eight-month recount and legal fight that followed. In 2004, she served as national finance director for Howard Dean’s presidential campaign, where she helped develop the online fundraising model that ushered in a new era of digital fundraising.

“Never has it been more important for organizations of all kinds to have an understanding of the political landscape,” said Schriock. “Stephanie, Teddy, and Mike have long been leading the team at Precision to take a rigorous, campaign-style approach to all of their clients’ needs, providing expert counsel that drives success. I look forward to working with them as they continue to exceed expectations.”

Currently, Schriock is a senior advisor for the Strategic Victory Fund and is serving as a political strategist. She is the co-author of Run to Win: Lessons in Leadership for Women Changing the World and was named to ELLE magazine’s “10 Most Powerful Women in Washington” list.
