Dori Salcido is an experienced communications strategist with nearly three decades of experience in public affairs and crisis experience across the federal government, and the public and private sectors. As a partner she sits on the leadership team and leads Precision’s health care and crisis management practices.

Most recently, she served in the Biden-Harris Administration as Director for Strategic Communications and Engagement on the White House COVID-19 Response Team and prior to that as Senior Counselor for Strategic Communication at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in the Office of the Director. As part of the broader federal response to the global pandemic, Salcido developed and executed strategic and crisis communications planning across the federal government for the media, stakeholders, Congress and advised the CDC Director and agency on a wide range of complex issues affecting the agency, including major public health campaigns and initiatives.

During the Obama Administration, Dori served as Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs (ASPA) at the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) where she was responsible for leading strategic and crisis communications planning on major initiatives for the agency. She played a key role in the high-level communications and crisis-management of the implementation of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and launch of the ACA marketplace, one of the largest public health education campaigns in agency history. During her HHS tenure, she also served as the Deputy ASPA and the Communications Director for the Assistant Secretary for Health and the U.S. Surgeon General. In these roles, she oversaw multimillion-dollar public health education earned and paid media campaigns and managed public relations and crisis communications for the Department’s public health portfolio, including the CDC on disease prevention, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on regulatory issues, and the National Institutes of Health (NIH) on innovative research.

Prior to that, she worked for nearly a decade in the private sector. As Senior Communications Director for America Online (AOL), she developed and executed media strategies and marketing campaigns to support AOL’s international expansion efforts into Europe, Asia-Pacific, South America, and Latin America. She also played a key role in corporate communications, including investor relations, online safety and privacy issues, crisis communications, and key product consumer launches.

Earlier in her career, Dori served as a Special Assistant and Director of Media Operations to President Clinton in the White House Press Office. A New Mexican native, Dori earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and speech communications from the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque. She lives in Alexandria with her husband and their dog Sophia Loren.
